Josh Watson, MHS 11 [Chair]
Josh Watson is currently a junior at MHS, and is the Chair of the Greater Morgantown Area Youth Commission. Also, he is currently the student body Corresponding Secretary for student council, and Key Club vice president. Other clubs and societies he is a member of include National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Social Studies Club, Art Club, and the Rowdie Society. This is his third year on the Youth Commission, and has lived in Morgantown his entire life. He hopes that anyone who ever has a question or needs help feels free to ask him and he wants to do the best job he can to work well with the other members of youth commission, and have a very productive year!
Catalina Pinto, MHS 11 [Co-Chair]
Catalina Pinto is a junior at Morgantown High School. She is the president of HI-Y and National Spanish Honor Society as well as being a member of Teens Aware of Cancer, Rowdie Society, Amnesty International, and National Honor Society. Catalina was born in Argentina but has lived in Champagne, IL; Syracuse, NY; and now Morgantown, WV. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, traveling, and volunteering at various places throughout the area. She wants to major in international studies with a minor in Spanish and ultimately practice international law.
Michelle Ma, MHS 11 [Secretary]
Michelle Ma is 16 years old and is a junior at MHS. She has lived in Morgantown, WV for 15 years. She is president of Art Club, and is also a part of Art Honorary, Chinese Club, Mu Alpha Theta, Student Council, National Honors Society, Science Honors, and Habitat for Humanity. Her passion is in the arts, and she also plays the flute. She has been a secretary in GMAYC since her sophomore year.
Christopher Radcliffe, MHS 11
Christopher Radcliffe was born on February 23, 1995; he is currently a junior at Morgantown High School (MHS). He is a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Ski Club at MHS. During his leisure time, he likes to read or simply relax. He enjoys the science of biology and plans to seek a career in the medical field.
Thomas Walls, Trinity 12
Thomas Walls is a senior at Trinity Christian School. He is involved in Student Council, HI-Y, and played Varsity Golf. He plans on studying Economics and Finance next year in college.
Yamini Anantula, MHS 11
Yamini Anantula is a junior at Morgantown High School. She joined GMAYC last spring. Yamini is an active person in her community, and at her school. She volunteers at the hospital, and she’s involved in National Honor Society, Science Honors, Green Initiative and many other clubs at her school. She’s been on the MHS Tennis Team for 2 years, and has been playing tennis for 6 years. Yamini plans to make this GMAYC year a very productive and fun year.
Elizabeth Dang, MHS 11
Elizabeth Dang is from Morgantown, West Virginia and she is a junior at MHS. This is her second year of being a part of the Greater Morgantown Area Youth Commission. Besides GMAYC, Elizabeth is also a member of National Honor Society, Science Honors, Student Council, Green Initiative Club, Music and Composition Club, Health Science Technology Academy, Environmentors, the secretary of Paranormal Society, and co-president of Chinese Club. Elizabeth also plays the violin and volunteers at Ruby Memorial Hospital in the summertime. She hopes to make Morgantown a better place and is looking forward to a great year!
Stephanie Arnold, MHS 11
Stephanie Arnold is a junior at Morgantown High School. She is involved in many community service organizations including: Student Council, Key Club, and National Honor Society. Not only does she find time to help out doing service, but also she is active in sports. Stephanie has play tennis all her life and plays the number one position on the MHS tennis team. She had maintained that position all her years of high school tennis excluding her freshman year when she played the second position under older sister Allison. She does a great job being the captain of her team, and keeps up a good record to prove it. The MHS girl’s tennis team has won regionals in the past and many of the players make it to states. Beside Stephanie tennis, she has future plans of pursuing a career in the medical field. She plans on becoming a pediatrician, in hopes to have the ability to help children as well as people each and every day.
Ashley Faulkner, UHS 10
Ashley Faulker is currently a sophomore at University High School. She has lived in and loved Morgantown her whole life. Along with serving her first year on the GMAYC, she is involved in student council, Hawk Wild (Pep Club), Spanish Honorary, Yearbook staff, and is the current First Vice-President for West Virginia FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America). In her free time, Ashley loves to read, write, volunteer, and spend time with her family and friends. Her favorite book series is Harry Potter and she loves GLEE! Ashley plans on attending WVU for her undergraduate and majoring in Political Science and Pre-Law with a minor in Business. After completing law school, she hopes to eventually open her own firm and run for office. Her biggest dream is to make a positive impact on her community and the world. She is very excited to serve Morgantown on the commission and can't wait to get started!
Jennifer Yu, MHS 11
Jennifer Yu is currently a junior at Morgantown High School. She is a member of a variety of clubs, including Mu Alpha Theta, Science Honors, National Honor Society, and Chinese Club. In her free time, Jennifer is active with community service, tutoring students at Suncrest Middle School. She also enjoys reading and playing tennis. This is her second year as part of the Greater Morgantown Area Youth Commission.
Shiv Sunil, MHS 11
Shiv Sunil sixteen years old (turning seventeen on December 21, the winter solstice), and he is an 11th grader at Morgantown High. He was born in Fairmont, WV, but moved to Morgantown when he was four years old. Shiv likes to play ping-pong and tennis in his spare time, and he likes reading about any subject. He probably will pursue a career in science when he leaves high school.
Lucas Trovato, UHS 10
Lucas Trovato is a sophomore at University High, and enjoys being around his friends and family. Lucas was a member of the wrestling team last year and a partial starter on the varsity baseball team. Lucas has lived in the same house in Morgantown his whole life. Lucas has 3 sisters, and is the only boy in his family. He is very active in the community, doing service work through his church annually. Lucas looks forward to his time on the Greater Morgantown Area Youth Commission.
Brandon Waters, UHS 11
Brandon Waters is the son of Linda Shreve of Morgantown, WV. Brandon previously attended Grafton High, where he was elected Class President, and played on the Varsity/Senior tennis team. Brandon is currently a junior at University High, where he is a member of the Student Council. Brandon also currently attends MTEC and is working on achieving licensure in the field of pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician; he is a member of HOSA. Brandon's plans for the future include attending Washington University in St. Louis with a double major in Psychology and Pre-Law; he then plans on attending Medical school, with plans of being a General Practitioner and Psychiatrist.
Michael Gerbo, UHS 12
Michael Gerbo is a senior at UHS. He's been elected as his class' president and student body's historian and class vice president for the past years. He has also participated in many sports at UHS, being the captain for both soccer and football. Besides school, Michael has played in the West Virginia United Soccer Club since he was ten and played BOPARC basketball for the past three years. Michael also participates in clubs like Key Club, Model UN, Science Bowl, HI-Y, Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish Honorary, and National Honor Society, while also tutoring kids in math and science after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Kristin Davis, MHS 11
Kristin Davis is currently a junior at Morgantown High School, and this is her first year on the Youth Commission. She also is president of the Morgantown High Ski and Snowboard Club, a member of National Honor Society, and a member of National Spanish Honor Society. She also plays on the girl's lacrosse team at MHS. Kristin has lived in Morgantown her entire life and wants to get involved in the community to hopefully make an impact.
